The Inaugural Women’s Choral Festival
Saturday, March 12 | 7:30pm – 9pm | St. Faith’s Church (11725 93 Street)

SkirtsAfire is proud to present this inaugural Women’s Choral Festival in Edmonton. This celebration of women’s voices features performances by:

Chanteuses
Chanteuses, part of the Edmonton Columbian Choirs, is a group of 25 voices (18 and over). Growing out of the Columbian Girls’ Choir, they have been in existence since 1991. They have sung with the Edmonton Symphony, Alberta Ballet and for the Lt. Governor, and have twice been finalists in the CBC Amateur Choir Competition.

Ariose
Ariose Women’s Choir is an award-winning choir of roughly 40 singers from every walk of life – all of whom enjoy the challenge of exploring and performing women’s choral music from many styles and periods. Formed in 1995 by Dr. Marilyn Kerley in Edmonton, Ariose strives to expose its audiences to a wide variety of women’s choral music – much of it unaccompanied – which allows the choir to fill a unique role in Canada’s rich choral landscape.

Archbishop Jordan Highschool
Archbishop Jordan High School Girl’s Choir is a non auditioned group, based out of Sherwood Park. This group of roughly 45 young singers rehearses once a week and performs Christmas and Spring concerts each year. The Archbishop Jordan High School girl’s ensemble is an auditioned group of roughly 20 young singers. These two groups travel each year to a variety of different music festivals in places including, San Francisco, Anaheim, New York City, Montreal, and Banff.

Bella Voce
Bella Voce Concordia (the women’s choir at Concordia University of Edmonton) consists of about 28 singers, ranging in age and experience from students through retired women! Bella Voce was formed six years ago, by Dr. Joy Berg, as she saw the need and desire for women to sing together, and to be challenged in the music that they could sing!
